GOLFNEWS >> GOLF BUSINESS GolfTec Coming To Ottawa   Indoor golf learning franchise GolfTec will be expanding their operations to Canada’s National Capital Region. The centre will be opening at 2672 Lancaster Drive.   Leading the way as Centre Manager will be Sean Joyce, formerly of The Marshes Golf Club. The Class A member of the PGA of Canada was the 2012 Assistant Professional of the Year in the PGA of Ottawa Zone and he is looking forward to the new opportunity. He’ll be joined in the coaching role at GolfTec Ottawa by Joe DiFlorio, a PGA of Canada member who previously worked at the Greyhawk Golf Club.   GolfTec was founded in 1995 and has grown to some 180 locations around North America. They provide a year-round coaching environment. Joyce says the new centre will occupy just over 3,000 square feet and will include four bays when complete plus a short game area. “We’ll start with two fully operational left hand/right hand bays. www.fl a g s t i c k . c o m The other bays will be completed as far as construction and when things start to grow we will look to fully outfit those two bays as well.” Having two bays will allow both Sean and Joe to run their own areas with plans to bring on another coach as the demand grows. Each bay will be outfitted with two cameras, a Foresight Launch monitor, propriety motion measurement technology, and a computer to run it all.   For those not familiar with GolfTec Joyce says the franchise provides what he feels is a very effective way for people to get better at golf. “An entire coaching package is involved in what GolfTec offers. It really is for the long-term improvement of the golf game.”   The system sees students get lessons then practice with feedback and comparison provided in a number of ways, even online storage of lessons for reference.   GolfTec Ottawa should be open in late June.
