Question:
I started to play golf last year. Until now I have relied on my
husband for advice because he is an avid golfer but I would like
to start more formal lessons. Should I be shooting a certain
score before I sign up with a pro?

Answer:
Welcome to the game. You certainly do not need to be posting a
particular level of score before seeking lessons. In fact, it is
the pro’s job to help you shoot those better scores! Depending on
your learning style you should consider a group or semi-private
lesson to start or even private lessons if you prefer. Do some
research and ask anybody you know who has taken lessons about who
they went to. Call a few pros and talk to them about your needs.
Find out a little about their personality and teaching style and
see if it matches your needs. Contact the courses and ranges in
your area and start the life long learning process as soon as you
can. Lower scores and more enjoyment will be your reward.
